Alfred Shelley Hagen, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend made his journey to Heaven on September 9, 2010 in the presence of his loving children at his home. Al was born on April 4, 1950 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Darrell and Bertha Hagen. He was raised on the family farm with his six brothers and sisters in Claremont, S.D. He graduated from Claremont High on May 13, 1968. Then he attended Northern State Teacher's College for his basic requirements. On November 4, 1969 he enlisted in the Navy and went to Corpsman School at the San Diego Navel Academy until 1972 and served as a medical corpsman until he was honorably discharged on July 24, 1975. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology on August 10, 1979 from the University of Montana. During his service in the military Al had his first child, Kari Ann Hagen, on May 13, 1970. On April 8, 1974 his first son was born, Kyle Allan Hagen. Al met Carol in Cody, Wyoming in 1975 and they married on June 28, 1976. Their son, Alfred George Hagen III, was born December 30, 1976. Their daughter, Charlene LaVone Hagen, was born on September 2, 1980. In the spring of 1980 they moved from Missoula, Montana to the Tri-Cities. In January 1982 Al and Carol opened their business, A-One Refrigeration & Heating. He made many lasting friends through his life. He worked and supported his family for 27 years while taking us on grand adventures traveling, boating, and camping. At the age of 57 he was able to retire. He then went on his own adventures with his dog across the United States visiting family and making many wonderful memories. He found great pleasure on his mission trip along the Gulf coast. He cherished his relationship with God. Al's great joy was being outdoors; be it camping with his family and catching the biggest fish or being on his farm with his many animals. He was a collector of all kinds of cars especially classic muscle cars. Dad loved his children deeply. He would tease us that he should've had the grandchildren first. Al was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol; father, and dear brother, John. He is survived by his mother, Bertha Teare; brothers, Joe and Mike; sisters, Vikki, Marie and Ellen; daughters, Kari Ann Skip Smith and Charlene LaVone Joe St. George of Kennewick; sons, Kyle Allan Hagen of Kennewick and Alfred George Hagen III of Alpine, WY; grandchildren, Brady, Carly, Calley, Jonny, Piper, Allison, Austin of Kennewick and Bristal of Alpine, WY. You're the best Dad. We'll love and miss you forever. Services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 2 S. Dayton in Kennewick, Washington with burial to follow at Riverview Heights Cemetery, 1200 S. Olympia St. in Kennewick.
